Conscious Culture

Culture! Now there’s a word with immense meaning. I love it! Culture is a most important element in the study of history and humankind. Culture defines us as a species, primally speaking. It’s no surprise that we’ve adapted this primal system of “culture” into the world of business.

In professional society, we know that a proper company culture refers to the set of values, goals, attitudes and practices that people within an organization share, which gives a company its distinct identity.

If you’re like me, you’ve worked for a company that boasts a bold and beautiful mission, vision and values but it’s not entirely the focal point during the day-to-day operations. At Anna Michele Communications, we call that a 3’Cs disconnect: consciousness, communication and community. This type of disconnect can cost thousands and millions of dollars, create massive turnover, decrease public perception, stall innovation, and the list goes on.

Let’s talk about a profound solution. A study conducted by The Talent Magnet reports, “As organizations adjust to a new era of work, connection is a big challenge. Successful organizations reconnect with their people by adopting a community mindset where employees find meaning in their work, believe that they belong, and feel more fulfilled.”

At AMC we’ve cracked the code! We’ve developed programming that addresses this era of disconnection in our workplace, and our world.

So what are the secret ingredients to creating and fostering a successful company culture? We identify them in our AMC 3 C’s Mindful Communication Model™, Consciousness, Communication, Community. Surprise, surprise! Ha!

Our AMC programming was designed around this research-based model that boasts community as the profound solution to creating intentional, and successful working environments and company cultures.

In phase one, we educate our clients on the research and practices of consciousness. Why? Because achieving a conscious presence leads us to more clearly understood how to achieve a heightened level of self-awareness. We lack self-awareness, 85% of us do, and this is the lead reason for misunderstanding and miscommunication.

Last week, I introduced you to AMC partner and mindfulness expert, Brooke Saffire.

This week Brooke writes about consciousness, in relation to meditation, and how it contributes to self-awareness, calm and happiness, which are crucial contributors, and often overlooked, in community culture success.

Brooke writes:

According to Neuroscience News, the practice of meditation has been found to stimulate several changes in the brain, a process called neuroplasticity.  So, meditation actually reverses the brain's patterns which lead to worrying, stress, anxiety, depression, poor attention, and mind wandering. Ps. Have you heard about Our Epidemic of Isolation and Loneliness, issued by the U.S. Government?

Stanford University reports meditation helps us to become more present because the practice stimulates the main pathways in our brains. These effects ultimately increase our senses, leading to greater overall awareness.

Stanford research also discovered that levels of dopamine (the neurotransmitter of pleasure), serotonin (the neurotransmitter of happiness), and GABA (the neurotransmitter of calmness), all rise in response to meditation.

When we really sit with this research in mind, we begin to realize how powerful  and transformative this tool is, and, what's even more incredible is, anyone with a mind (luckily that's all of us reading this, ha!), can practice meditation and experience its benefits.

“So, now, carve out 5 minutes of your day, give it a try and go meditate!” -Brooke Saffire.

Thanks Brooke! We want to present our interactive learning lab experiences with business leaders like you. We’re partnering with companies that have people-first missions, to carry out the AMC vision: to internationally reinvigorate the trustworthy exchange, by rewriting the narrative about communication as a “soft skill.”

Send me an email today so we can make an appointment and start planning a meaningful experience.

I look forward to our good work together. Sending gratitude & presence to you. If you liked today’s newsletter, send it to a friend!

This week AMC honors Juneteenth, recognizing the pain and suffering of those formerly enslaved. This week, and every week, we believe in freedom, and dignity for all living people.

Also, a moment of gratitude for all the good men in our lives. We hope you enjoyed a beautiful and relaxing Father’s Day!

Mindfully Speaking,

Anna Michele Bulszewicz
