AMC Announces “quest for community”

This summer I’m taking you to Italy. Well, sort of. I’ll explain. Andiamo!

You should’ve been there the day I accidentally discovered research about community and longevity. I gained clarity about many things in my life. Growing up in a big family taught me that “community” was a good thing, but I had no idea it was our lead reason for survival.

Fun fact. “Community” is the inspiration behind Anna Michele Communications. Last week I wrote about replenishing community in AMC Newsletter, Conscious Culture.

There are countless studies, talks, books, podcasts, and documentaries that explore community and its correlation to longevity. Many reference the study of blue zones. These are places in the world where people live into their hundreds at a massive rate. Not to kill the mood, men, but women make up the centenarian majority in all blue zones, except one, in Sardinia, Italy, where men and women live into their hundreds at an equal rate.

Researches like Dr. Susan Pinker visited the remote blue zone and reports that our social habits in community actually help us live longer. This research reveals for instance, when people put down the mobile devices and replace them with repeated, genuine face-to-face connection, we release a cascade of neurotransmitters that protect us now and into the future. When we make eye contact, high five, shake hands, we increase our levels of Oxytocin which induces trust and actually lowers our cortisol levels.

It’s not just Sardinia, the country of Italy boasts a profound life expectancy. In other words, Italians, as a country, have cracked the code on more than just food, fashion and fast cars. They have also cracked the code on true community and longevity Ha!

In 2018, I founded a study abroad program in southern Italy, along the Amalfi Coast in Sorrento.  There, I teach strategic business communications to my students. Italy is the perfect place for this program. For five weeks, we immerse into the Italian culture and live like the Italian people. We understand who they are and what true community means by engaging in what I call the genuine human exchange. Students improve their skills in consciousness, communication, and you guessed it, community! It’s powerful and the transformations are the highlight of my career.

Grab your passports and prepare for departure because our summer 2024 program commences in a few days and I want you to experience true Italian community, like we do. This summer, my love for qualitative research is leading me on an AMC Quest for Community.“Think Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy,” but with me searching for and identifying key elements that make up the soulful traditions of profound Italian unity.

You know and I know it’s time to improve our relationship building skills in business and everywhere, really. Our AMC 3 C’s Mindful Communication Model™, Consciousness, Communication, Community, is an innovative, research-based model that changes the professional development playing field. At AMC we’re normalizing consciousness in professional society and encouraging mindfulness so that overtime we can implement effective communication practices that help us generate longevity communities in business.

Through my good journey, send me an email! I want to hear your thoughts on the AMC Quest for Community project and its findings.

Grazie mille a tutti. Arrivederci!

Mindfully Speaking,

Anna Michele Bulszewicz
