Reinvigorating the Genuine
How are you? How is or was your Memorial Day weekend? Even though it was a mixed bag weatherwise here in western New York, it was a beautiful holiday weekend. Wasn’t it nice to unplug? The unofficial start of summer has arrived. But time, slow down!
Earlier last week, I started reflecting on what the Memorial Day holiday means to me. I worked in a military market as a journalist for nearly a decade. That experience gave me a richer perspective on our freedoms, our military men and women, their families, and America in general. While I’m on the topic, my sincerest gratitude to our U.S. military members for your service and protecting what we know to be our natural freedoms.
Like many of us, I’m filled with opinions on war and peace and freedom and I’m wildly starstruck by the World War II generation, or the “Greatest Generation.” When developing programming for Anna Michele Communications, I refer to generational studies research in our AMC Masterclasses. Weeks ago, I presented research by Dr. Jill Novak here. As a refresher, the following are characteristics of the American G.I. Generation:
Born 1901-1926.
Children of the WWI generation & fighters in WWII & young in the Great Depression…all leading to strong models of teamwork to overcome and progress.
Their Depression was The Great One; their war was The Big One; their prosperity was the legendary Happy Days.
They saved the world and then built a nation.
They are the assertive and energetic do’ers.
Excellent team players.
Community-minded. *Ding, ding.
In our AMC 3 C’s Mindful Communication Model™, Consciousness, Communication, Community, you can see that our third and final outcome is to help organizations create and foster empathetic, resilient, and innovative professional communities. We do this because according to studies, community, when curated with good and conscious intentions, generationally sustains and resists collapse. We also do this because misunderstandings or miscommunications make up 70% of a company’s mistakes and are the primary barrier in creating profound unity, or community.
We’re unconventional but we make an impact. We work to create profound unification amongst colleagues that mirror the willingness and resilience of the WWII generation. We do this by educating our client teams through interactive and engaging AMC Masterclasses backed by science and data on emotional intelligence-related topics like self-awareness, empahty, trust and relationship building.
I invite you to register here for an upcoming AMC speaking event hosted by leadership organization, Inforum, on Tuesday, June 4. The talk is titled: “Reinvigorating the Genuine”: A discussion about trust, communication, and the human exchange.
Gratefully, this will be AMC’s third time working with this professional and innovative leadership organization. I’m also looking forward to collaborating at this event with mindfulness professional and cherished colleague, Brooke Saffire. We hope to see you there!
This spring and summer AMC is on tour. We want to present our interactive learning lab experiences to business leaders like you. We’re partnering with companies that have people-first missions, to carry out the AMC vision: to internationally reinvigorate the trustworthy exchange, by rewriting the narrative about communication as a “soft skill.”
Send me an email today so we can set a date and start planning a meaningful experience. Together, let’s create and foster empathetic, resilient, and innovative professional communities, Mindfully Speaking.
I look forward to our good work together. Sending gratitude & presence to you.
