Let’s start at the very beginning…

It starts with me. It really does. To that point, it starts with you. It also starts with the start of our day.

When it comes to professional development there’s this idea that the team will receive the information and instantly improve. Kind of, but false. First of all, professional development is personal before it can be collective and second, it takes time, lots and lots of time. Dare I say patience?

Time for a cliché. New years are our time to begin again (in case you forgot). In 2024, I’m personally working harder to live more purposefully & presently than ever before. When I work with teams and leaders we begin by discussing the concept of true purpose. Seeking and articulating purpose, in anything, is equal parts maddening and fulfilling. It is one of the most complex journeys we’ll ever endure, but also the most important to live a full and intentional life.

At AMC, we know the first step in effective communication is actually taking time to quiet the mind and internally listen. This process differs for everyone, but that’s also why AMC is here. Once a person builds a deeper relationship with their internal monologue, or internal hard drive, or ego, (however you identify it), the mindful communication work begins.

At Anna Michele Communications we know successful professionals, like you, tend to put themselves last. This year, our first call to action for you is to more presently listen. More presently listen to you.

When folks think of communication, they typically think of words, talking or presenting. The first step is actually mastering the skill of listening. It’s time, to make time, to audit your thoughts.

The AMC Mindful Communication Model is Consciousness+Communication+Community. As we consciously begin 2024 we encourage everyone to “start at the very beginning.” *Yes. We like The Sound of Music.

So, here is your chance to personally answer, “How conscious am I?” Below I’m sharing my AMC conscious morning ritual to get your day started in a more mindful direction.

Step one is creating a calm morning routine (yes this means going to bed at a reasonable hour). We’re prescribing the following practice to help quiet your mind, so you can more consciously audit your thoughts and listen to your inner monologue, at the start of your day.

*Place sacred value on the following screen-free, quiet morning routine, (approx. 2 hours, for 30 days & modify to fit your lifestyle)

    1. Ritualize with coffee, tea, a warm beverage of choice & a gratitude practice (10-15 min)

    2. Safely engage in 20-40 minutes of physical fitness/stretching (depending on your endurance level)

    3. Prepare a simple/healthy breakfast, dine at a properly set table

    4. Take an aromatic shower, infuse with music, end with a 30-second cold shot

    5. Avoid negative morning news headlines (says the former morning show journalist) until necessary, or at all

    6. Once a week, quietly watch a sunrise, outdoors

A wise man once told me, “Early bird gets the worm, Anna.” He was right. But allow me to add to that, “A quiet mind in the morning lives its highest potential.”

Happy new year! Cheers to our strong and prosperous beginning in 2024. Cheers to living our highest potential.
